Control Methods
- M48 = CTS ON
- M49 = CTS OFF
G-code only works with M codes and does not look at Tool List selectable options.
ShopMill will read the CTS column in the Tool List and use it automatically.
Inputs / Outputs
CTS Pump Inputs
- I32.5 — CTS Pump Overloaded
- I34.3 — CTS Pressure Sensor
- I37.7 — CTS Filter
CTS Pump Output
- Q40.2 — CTS Pump ON
Errors
510120 – CTS Pressure Low, Spindle at Commanded Speed
What it means: The spindle has reached the commanded speed (e.g., 4000 RPM), but CTS pressure has not reached the sensor’s set value (I34.3 = 0).
Why it triggers: The machine disables feed and read-in to prevent cutting before coolant pressure builds.
How it clears: This is an operator message. It clears automatically when I34.3 goes high (CTS pressure is established).
510222 – CTS ON, Set Pressure Not Reached
What it means: CTS was commanded on, but the pressure input (I34.3) stayed low. Spindle speed is not considered.
Why it triggers: Program execution is stopped because CTS pressure was not confirmed.
How it clears: This is also an operator message. It clears automatically once I34.3 goes high.
Simple Check:
If the motor is running and coolant is flowing → adjust the pressure sensor (I34.3).
If the errors appear and no coolant is coming out → check pump power, overload (Q21 / I32.5), filter (I37.7), or coolant level.
Hardware
34082 - TRANSFORMER OPTION-VMC7/10SI-208V TO 480V
Q21 overload relay is set to 7 amps for the CTS pump motor.
If the machine has the 208V→480V transformer option, a soft starter (P/N 34154) is installed for CTS
The soft starter replaces K21 (contactor) and Q21 (overload).
Q40.2 drives the soft starter input.
The overload signal (I32.5) returns from the soft starter to the PLC.
Pressure Sensor Calibration
- Calibration is set at the factory; only adjust if needed.
- Power on the mill, remove any tool, and enable CTS.
- Locate the Calibration screw.
- Tighten slowly (about 1/8 turn per second) while watching the pendant.
- When a CTS fault appears, loosen the screw ¼ turn.
- Clear the fault on the pendant.
