After Q axis referencing is done, the user needs to go back to the screen in step 2 and make sure that when turret is indexed to position 1, the position for MQ1 is 0 degree. Add the picture and the instructions for this operation. The user should also move the turret and ensure that axial movement is not observed after re-referencing.
Please add a note "Removing tools from the turret is not necessary for re-referencing the turret" in this step. When King Rich visited us a couple of months ago, they mentioned that we needed to remove tools but we observed on TC820LTY in the machine shop that removing tools is not necessary.
If there is radial movement and the user indexes the turret to tool 1, the position should be anything other than 0. Ideally, it should be 0, but because of the radial movement, the turret gets positioned to a non-zero position when we index it to tool 1. In the picture, you should show a non-zero angle on the problematic machine when it is indexed to position 1.
The turret is Q axis, The RED box in the picture should be for MQ1. MC2 is the live tool spindle axis.
The values for Axes for VMCsi and TC820si machines range from 1.83 to 6.87. We can have a general guideline of reducing the value by 30% and run AST when we have a tuning problem. The guide applies to both VMCsi and TC820si.
